The benefit of setting up a self-hosted email SMTP server and how to maintain it

If you are tired of any following situation:

* Email Service Provider (ESP) limiting your Marketing, for the type of content you sent and type of links you added in the email?
* being suspended for your list for the even small amount of spam complaints, or suspended for you sending too many bounced emails?
* being limited to a few lists or won’t allow you to import lists from your other ESP to another ESP?

And if you want instead:

* send 10k emails/hour, all in your control, and more w/o worrying about content getting approval or any manual review?
* increase inbox rate?
* auto clean emails?

You can own your own ready-to-go Sender Software and SMTP Server,

* Preconfigured for your needs

Q/A:

Can I use the server for illegal purposes like phishing, spoofing etc. ?

No, The illegal use of the server is strictly prohibited. Don’t use this self-Hosted server to break the law. As soon as I or other ISP detects illegal activity you will not be able to deliver any more emails, and will likely be on the black list. There will not be any refund neither due to the nature of this Gig.

Can I use the server for Spamming?

Of course, you can work with the server for commercial use, but Spamming is not allowed. If you duplicate your list to multiple pen names, I would suggest you create multiple servers and hire professional email writer for each email sent from each of your pen names. Use the server with responsibility will reap the benefits of what have sown before. If you work with good Email Marketing rule, like providing value to your subscribers, you will get lots of benefits in the long term. Spamming won’t work as this short cut of getting max clicks in the shortest period of time will normally just get your domain/IP and your brand’s reputation bad super fast; then your cost to restart the new server and do all this again will waste lots of your time and money. So I recommend to do it right at the beginning. Don’t Spam.

What happens when I get blacklisted?

You can get in blacklist or spam trap like the honey pot for a lot of reasons. You should always conduct a good practice like don’t use software craw the website for emails or exchange list with other marketers. My experiences are that once you exchange your list with other marketers, the list will get abused faster than you can imagine. If you are not careful, you will lose your subscribers’ trust fast, as they will receive tons of tons of emails and eventually give up their mail box or report spam on you every time even though you change your domain and IP. This is like digging a hole for your own online business success. Other reasons like without a good double opt-in, or a good funnel, you might get bad lists, blocked emails and etc in your email. Clean your list and remove those unresponsive emails every 3-6 months is a good practice.

When you are in blacklists it gets difficult to get good inbox rates regardless how hard you work on it, and sometimes it will eventually mean not fixable, and can cause you to have to create a new domain and IP and start all over the warming process again. Remember it takes average 45 days to warm up a server before you can use it. So you should always care a good reputation approach to get the most out of the server instead of trying to get as many clicks as possible from people who subscribed to your landing page and like you and trust you in the first place.

Is it possible to get out of a blacklist?

Be responsible for your server and avoid to get blacklisted! In the case this happens either by Spamhaus or Gmail blocking and etc, I will help you to get out. This will take several days. For Gmail, it will take 2 – 4 weeks. This is your valuable time that you loose on sending an additional email. When this happens several times, instead of creating a new domain/IP, new server, you should change your strategy by being more responsible for your email list, email content, and promotional link in your content. Again you harvest what you have sown.

For bulk email sending, regarding you are using Atomic Sender, APR Reach, Interspire / Power MTA or Mailster/Mail-In-A-Box SMTP server and etc, when you start with the server it will first send slower than that it actually can, like 250 emails per IP per hour. If you send too many emails and without pause, you might get blocked by the ISP like Gmail etc in just a few days. Follow the rule discuss above, it will increase your IP and domain reputation. The server checks your sending score every day, and when it gets better the sending rate will increase up to 1k/h/IP.

Common error is seen during the warm up process:
